Uminonakamichi Seaside Park

The park can be found across the bay from Fukuoka on a narrow and scenic peninsula. It consists of a variety of attractions and measures around four kilometers in length – so it is worth setting aside an entire day for exploration. But that need not mean that the party needs to set a hurried pace – an entire day is more than enough, in fact it provides enough time to take advantage of the open spaces and the rolling lawns which are perfect for a picnic. these lawns have been planted with 2000 cherry trees and visiting the park during the period of late March to early April and settling down for a picnic will reveal the wonder and beauty of the cherry trees in full blossom.

The park also has huge number of attractions that will be sure to delight both the adults in the party and the younger visitors. there are the magnificent flower gardens, sports fields, playgrounds, a wonderful water park (which is perfect for escaping the heat of the day), and amusement park (with an impressive Ferris wheel) and a zoo.

For those who want to combine exploration of the park with some gentle exercise, the extensive network of cycle paths offer an alternative to exploring on foot. Bicycles are available for hire at the entrance of the park. The cost is 500 yen for three hours or 700 yen for the entire day.

For an even more leisurely way to explore the wonders of the park, there is a bus/shuttle service that will transport visitors to the more popular areas of the park. A pass for the entire day costs 500 yen – and this will allow visitors to hop on and off to spend as much time as they want in areas of particular interest.

Crossing the railway will allow visitors to enjoy Marine World Uminonakamichi. Here a variety of sea life native to the area is on display, including the main tank containing 120 sharks of 20 different species.

If you are in the Fukuoka area do not miss the chance to enjoy the natural splendor of this park. It is the perfect setting to take to enjoy a day out with family and friends.
